KAI arba KADA - what's the difference?

Everyone is familiar with the word KADA as an interrogative, but in meaning “When” in the texts you can often notice the use of another word - KAI. Is there a difference?

In fact, everything is quite simple and not scary at all.

WHEN KAI
Anyway

ONLY in a complex sentence as a conjunction

For example, When I left, she called me.

Kai i left, she called me.

That is, if our sentence consists of several parts and the word “When” is a union, can be used as WHEN, so and KAI. In other cases you need to choose WHEN.

DO NOT CONFUSE CONJUNCTION WITH THE UNION WORD!

How to distinguish a conjunction from a union word?

A conjunction can be removed from a sentence without distorting the meaning of the sentence. Logical stress also falls on the conjunctive word.

An example:

  1. When I left, she called me. (Logical stress does not fall) → I left, she called. (The meaning has not been distorted)
  2. She asked, When I'll come. (Logical stress falls) → She asked, I'll come. (The meaning has been distorted)
